Philippines - Mother, Daughter Burned Alive at Window Grills, Sta. Cruz Manila
Before dawn on April 28, 2021, a house fire erupted on Elias Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila, Philippines. A 35-year-old woman and her 6-year-old daughter attempted to escape through a window but were unable to get past the security grills. People below saw them calling for help at the window but could not reach them. They both burned to death in front of the crowd. Footage of the incident spread widely on Philippine social media. A second alarm was raised within five minutes. A 36-year-old man from the same house survived with second-degree burns, while at least five families were affected. Neighbours told reporters they heard a series of explosions before the fire. The fire service was still investigating, and no cause has been reported. Some circulating captions placed the fire in Sampaloc, but four independent Manila outlets put it in adjacent Sta. Cruz.  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |
