Just from seeing and observing the photos, I will give something of a possibility of what could be the back story about them. I am not saying that this is actually what happened, but what it looks like to ME, having done this type of thing before I retired.

It looks like the po-po, came out on the wrong end of this running gun battle. To me, from having done this in the past, it really looks like the ones in the blue SUV that has rolled over, are all polizia. It actually appears that the two blue SUV's were the police/army or whatever agency they were from, were after a high value group of targets in the silver SUV. It also looks like some very poor planning, and with the tactic that it looks like they were attempting, they did not have the correct vehicles. They should have had hard armored assault vehicles, to be able to protect the cops inside. The vehicles they were using, looked like they just came off the showroom floor from a dealer, without any hard body protection installed(very stupid) It also looks like they tried to get the silver SUV with the bad-guys in it, boxed in, and to try to overtake the bad-guys vehicle. Things went horribly wrong, an it just about looks that the shooting was happening with the silver SUV trapped between the two blue SUV's with the law, were firing and they possibly could have been shooting through the silver SUV and actually blasting the other police vehicle as well. It looks like more polizia got killed than the number of crooks that were. I see a lot more dead people wearing what looks like the same type of issued body armor, and were all dressed just about the same, while the crooks had whatever type of civilian clothes that they were wearing.

Well, that is my take on what could have happened. Cabriolet.

I also noticed a few of the dead were wearing "Issued" ballistic vests !
They are more than likely police dead !
