Pattern Injuries from Blows with the Muzzle End of a Handgun

Germany. In the early morning of a winter day, a 21-year-old man was found dead in a snow-covered field. His body was lying in a prone position with blood-soaked hair and clothing. Scalp and facial skin showed a multitude of uniform, ring-shaped lacerations. Close to the deceased, cases, and unspent cartridges of cal. 7.65 mm pistol ammunition was scattered across the ground.

Soon after the victim’s body had been discovered, a 22-year-old man came under suspicion of being involved in the homicide. Both the suspect and the victim were members of a criminal gang. In the course of the police investigations, it turned out that the suspect had killed the victim. According to statements made by witnesses later, the offender first shot at his opponent but missed him. Then the weapon was jammed. Having pulled back the slide several times, the perpetrator used his pistol as a striking tool and delivered numerous blows to the victim’s head with the muzzle end of the barrel. In doing so, the perpetrator’s hands were gloved. Apart from pistol-whipping, the offender kicked the victim and beat him with a fence post. In total, the offense lasted for more than one hour until the victim ceased to show any signs of life.

Fig.4 Weapon as used for pistol whipping (make Ceska, type 83, cal. 7.65 mm).

A medicolegal examination of the suspect was ordered and performed 4 days after the incident. At that time, a roundish lesion was detected on the palm of his dominant right hand, where the skin showed changes typical of a healing friction blister. The suspect’s constitution was athletic due to regular fitness training.

Based on characteristic marks left upon the cases and unspent cartridges from the scene, the make and model of the weapon used could be determined by the firearm examiner. The marks were indicative of a pistol Ceska type 83, cal. 7.65 mm. The gun involved in the crime could not be confiscated as it had been disposed of by the perpetrator.

The ring-shaped head wounds had rather clean edges with only narrow marginal abrasion and slight bruising of the adjacent connective tissue. The depth of the wounds varied from a few millimeters up to the full thickness of the scalp. The large number and dense arrangement of the individual lacerations suggested multiple impacts obviously inflicted in a repetitive manner. Some of the punched-out skin flaps had been separated from the skull cap either partially or completely. Apart from circular lacerations, there were also crescent-shaped wounds with an eccentrically widened abrasion. Another type of injury was characterized by a round pressure abrasion without concomitant penetration of the dermis. As a consequence of the prolonged survival time, the lacerations were accompanied by moderate tissue infiltration with polynuclear leukocytes.

Macroscopic and histological investigations of the inner organs did not reveal any pre-existing pathological changes. Blood and urine were free of ethanol. Multi-target toxicological analysis proved the presence of cannabinoids, MDMA, nicotine, and caffeine.

Yeah but sadly Youtube is very strict when it comes to anything graphic, I would immediately get banned.

This is how any medical examiner or pathologist would describe these photos. He obviously works in the industry given his jargon and medical knowledge.

Re: Pattern Injuries from Blows with the Muzzle End of a Handgun

~ It was supposed to be a quick kill but then it turned into an opportunistic crime of rage, with blunt & continuous blows made by the weapon used, since it had inconveniently jammed.
~ The killer obviously has recurrent hair trigger temper problems.
A common symptom of being involved in alcohol, drugs, & criminal gang activity abuse.

What about tracing the images or finding an artist who could interpret them? Add a musician, portray the content as an educational resource, merch - quid's in.
