Re: Parachutist Fails to Open Chute
Not always true, I have seen people bounce a couple times. I was a very active skydiver for many years at Skydive Arizona and I have seen many people bounce there and on other drop zones. I have witnessed over 20 people die in skydiving accidents. One of the uglier ones a guy hook turned at about 100' and did not recover in time and bounced and went through the air and got impaled on a trailer hitch of a spectators truck. I am a parachute rigger so I have also been involved in finding the cause of the gear not opening. I have seen some grisly accidents before and have been the guy that removed the blood soaked rig from their back so the stupid cops or paramedics didn't screw it up. You run up and start taking photos of a person that bounced and you have a good chance of getting your ass kicked and you film or card destroyed. |

Re: Parachutist Fails to Open Chute
You are at around 120mph in free fall so the sudden stop is quite damaging. I was there when a guy fell through a hanger and one where a guy impacted on the concrete portion of a runway. Also saw a man impact into a plane on the tarmac. A freaky one was when I was jumping in another place a guy that went out a couple a head of me impacted the tail of a King Air and sheared it off, he was fine but the plane wasn't. Google Dana Bowman if you want to see two people collide mid air and a mans legs get cut off and flop through the air. |
