These photographs circulated for years in a forwarded-email hoax claiming to show a factory harvesting organs from bodies. The claim was never viable: transplantable organs must be recovered within minutes to hours from brain-dead donors, not from corpses stacked in a cold room. What the pictures actually show is a real and badly overwhelmed institutional morgue, most likely in a post-Soviet country in the 1990s: an autopsy hall with six tables in use, staff in scrubs and aprons, a clerk typing case records, hanging scales, and body bags. Which facility, city or year has never been established.
