On Tuesday in Zamora, Michoacán, Victor Manuel Gil, Lieutenant Colonel assigned to 37 Battalion of Infantry, was ambushed by a group of gunmen. The gunmen began to operate their firearms against the police command and a woman who accompanied him, leaving the two gunned down in the car he was driving the 42 years of age. It was so after the two people massacred, the armed group managed to flee the scene in an unknown direction. Authorities arrived at San Joaquin subdivision streets and found the two executed in a white Mitsubishi car with license plates from Mexico City. The woman executed was identified as Alejandra Ortega, 29 years old, who for some time belonged to the Municipal Police of Zamora. Some unofficial accounts noted that she was the wife of a Transit element of the same municipality. Investigating officers were able to collect 125 caps in the double murder scene. The bodies were picked up by the Forensic Medical Service, and transferred to the amphitheater which was heavily guarded by personnel of the Mexican Army. |
