An Old Man Jumped Off a Bridge with His Neck Hanging, and His Head Was Cut Off.
The deceased was found by someone who was exercising in the morning by the riverside. The deceased was a 71-year-old male (163 cm tall, 75 kg). He had been working as an apartment security guard for about 3-4 years before his death, and suffered a back injury. He later applied for industrial accident compensation, but it did not go smoothly, causing him to suffer from severe mental stress and symptoms of depression. A suicide note found at his home stated that he was doing bad things because of the extreme physical pain. After writing the suicide note, the deceased hung himself on the railing installed on the bridge with a nylon rope (0.9 cm thick) at around 2:30 AM, and jumped from a height of 6 m. The total length of the rope was 4.5 m, and the knot was a running noose, with fresh skin tissue at the end (Fig. 2). Blood was on the floor where the victim fell, and arterial bloodstains were observed on the surrounding grass, clothing, and hands (Fig. 3). The head was separated about 1 meter away from the body. The nylon strings cut through the neck, thyroid cartilage, esophagus, trachea, and cervical vertebrae (second and third segments) (Figure 5). There were no other external injuries on the body, and the body was of a healthy build like a young person with elastic skin. A will was found, and the cause of death was determined to be suicide, so an autopsy was not performed in respect of the family's wishes. |

At least he didn’t jump under a truck to involve some other innocent person. He had the decency to take it on alone. Sad that some people find it the only way out rather than just dying naturally.
