NPA Ambush Kills Four Police Officers in Bansalan, Philippines, March 8, 2017
Four Philippine National Police officers were killed when a New People's Army squad ambushed their convoy in Barangay Sibayan, Bansalan, Davao del Sur, on March 8, 2017. The dead were PO1 Rolly Benelayo, PO1 Joe Narvaza and PO1 Saro Mangutara of the Bansalan Municipal Police Station, and PO3 Jayden May Rabor of Scene of the Crime Operations in Digos City. PO3 Allen Arnado survived. The officers were traveling to Sibayan to investigate the reported killing of two civilians. The first police vehicle passed the ambush site, but gunmen on elevated ground opened fire on the second vehicle, a pickup with an open back. Arnado escaped into a roadside canal. The attackers took two M16 rifles and two 9mm pistols from the vehicle. The NPA claimed responsibility and said its squad called on the officers to surrender before a roughly 10-minute firefight. Police disputed that account. All four officers tested negative for gunshot residue, and police said Benelayo, the only officer carrying a rifle, was shot before he could fire. A regional medico-legal officer said the attackers descended from high ground and shot the wounded officers. Arnado said he heard an order to hold fire while the area was cleared, followed by additional shots.            |

Wow, that's pretty gruesome. Wish it had more details about attack. Wonder what type of weapons were used. That dude literally had his brains blown out. Awesome pics. |

That happened on March 8, 2017 in Barangay Sibayan, Bansalan, Davao del Sur, Philippines. I have a video of it. Also, I would like to correct that there are four fatalities, not three.

rebels here mostly use ak47 and 1911s. no surprise with regards to the damages.
