Nigeria - Officer Accidently Blows Up His Abdomen
On 25th May 2021 in Afikpo Town (Nigeria), I.A. lost his life. 'I' had accidently knocked the hand grenade that was hanging from his belt. It exploded, killing him instantly. False claims of the man being a suicide bomber had previously been doing the rounds across the internet.

I don't think he knocked the grenade from his belt. Otherwise, it would have been on the ground when it went off. I think he snagged the pin, and it pulled out without him noticing it. The grenade remained hooked to his belt, and detonated in place. Of course, he's also the kind of soldier who uses his gun as a walking stick, so an accident like this was bound to happen sooner or later. If it hadn't been the grenade, it would have been his rifle barrel blowing up from a barrel blockage when he fired his weapon. Of him thinking he was going to fart, and delivering a load into his own underpants. Or riding his scooter without a helmet. Or using his toaster while taking a bath. Pretty much anything at all. |
