I know what you mean. I had a next door neighbour who lost it after taking amphetamines for 5 weeks solid. He thought everyone was out to get him, even his hoover (vacuum cleaner) was telling him to kill people. In the end he locked me in his house with him and his 2 kids after his wife had fled. What a bloody shame it was for those 2 kids, they were terrified. Luckily I had phoned his local priest before he locked me in and the priest had phoned the police. The guy got locked up in a loony bin, that he's now in the process of sueing the authorities for. But yeah, on that dreadful day, there was absolutely no reasoning with him at all. Nothing I said registered and he didn't even notice his kids screams. All he cared about was wiping his world of the people and electrical appliances that were out to get him...
