Necklacing in Apartheid-Era South Africa
During township unrest in South Africa in the 1980s, necklacing was a mob killing method in which a tyre containing petrol was placed around a victim and ignited. It was mainly used against black South Africans alleged to have cooperated with the apartheid state. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission named Maki Skosana, who was killed in July 1985, as the first filmed victim. Necklacing later appeared in mob-justice and xenophobic attacks, meaning such images can relate to separate events from different years. |

Re: Necklacing in Apartheid-Era South Africa
Thanks, but no thanks Mr. Policeman. At that point just let me burn, or shoot me.

Re: Necklacing in Apartheid-Era South Africa
These people are so backwards. Don't they know how bad burning tyres is for the environment? Somebody needs to help them embrace 'green' methods of torture and mayhem. If they don't act now there won't be anybody left for future generations to kill.
