Bloody hell Bruce... Here we go again... Sarcasm... This entire thread is full of your sarcasm and it's meant to be about napalm victims not whether you class yourself as a Mexican an American or a spacehopper from Mars... I'm sure there's other forums you can post on if you want this kind of argument. I'm British. Big whoop. That also makes me European. Double big whoop. But I don't class myself as European because the UK is an island seperate to the rest of Europe, we're the only place in Europe that has English as a first language and we don't use the Euro. Trebble big whoop. My passport says "British" just as I assume yours will say "Mexican". And nobody really cares anyhow because this thread isn't about YOU. And if the tv has fucked me up I'd love to know what's got to you... Maybe you should try watching tv at some point... You might learn something... Like how to read thread titles... This one is about N-A-P-A-L-M not B-R-U-C-E

I, myself, would be incredibly pissed of if someone called me 'European'. I am BRITISH and really (really, really) darn proud of it. I also hate people like you who assume that you Mexicans can play that darn race card all the time to explain away how lazy, stupid you are and how you can barely speak a recognisable language.

Natarella, your dad is really brave, and your post made me cry. I can't believe how nasty those nasty hippies were, I always saw them as harmless but... I wish him good luck. I always feel really sorry for the Vietnam vets and really wish someone would do something more for them. That Napalm stuff sounds awful, I had never heard about it before. It must be incredibly awful, what kind of monsters would do such a thing?

Re: Napalm - The Smell of Victory

America only fought in Vietnam because A) communism "is bad" and B) Government forced the soldiers to. I am not dogging the veterans in any way, but rather criticizing the government. same reason we are in Iraq / Afghanistan. Our government only wants to impregnate everyone with its "wonderful democracy" which in fact is a living hell. We should not fight wars because we hate a country's government style. it is bigoted and ignorant.

I almost cried reading your post. A close family friend (so close we called him 'uncle') was in Vietnam. A straight laced, hard working young man left for war and came back unable to hold a job or relationship.

No Vietnam vet got any help at all when they came back, and on top of everything, their own country ignored them. It's pretty typical that after 30-35 years, the emotions are as raw as if it happened yesterday.

WWII vets came back as heros. They were the defenders and protectors of the American way of life from the evils of fascism, Nazis, and those damn 'Pearl Harbor bombing' Japanese. Although they had no "therapy" to speak of, they were embraced by the American people. Ticker tape parades, homecoming parades, GI bills for free college or trade school, very low cost mortgages for homes in the new suburbia.

Vietnam vets had none of that.

I was a young girl when "The Deer Hunter" came out. My parents went to see it. People had to be carried out, crying and shaking hysterically. It was the FIRST movie about Vietnam and one of the first movies that did not glamorize war.

I hope your dad somehow finds some comfort in this life. He is lucky to have a daughter like you.
Lost a few friends from high school in that war. I still think about them, especially James Stewart Kell. Go to the Vietnam Vets Memorial page and you can see his name there. He was such a sweet guy. I was utterly shocked when he was killed.
"The Deer Hunter" had a profound effect on me. It still ranks up there with the best films ever made.

Re: Napalm - The Smell of Victory

So let's kill all the republicans and the conservatives and have obama and his liberal fascists use socialism only to take over the evil capitalistic society that America is. I'm sorry, AmeriKKKA, right. ANARCHISM AND SOCIALISM AND ATHEISM are the only things that matter in your rotten stinking lives, right? You arrogant jerks! Who do you think you are? I click on your info profiles and the more arrogant and bitter and indifferent about human suffering you are, the fact that you don't hold jobs and you don't care about anything it seems but death. I came on this site to desensitize myself to certain things that came on the job that I wasn't prepared for. When a woman is decapitated, or dismembered, all you can think about is how good she'd be to have sex with, her dead body. As if all a woman is good for is sex and nothing more, " a f--k toy" as I've seen. Everyone rubbernecks, granted, when there's an accident on the road, and we like to see things to remind us of our own mortality and what not to do. But much of the things I see on this site, not the pictures, but the "f--k the world and I'm going to do what I want, when I want, f--k the law and everything and everybody and only if I had enough guns and ammo to take out everybody I hate, and that includes you" attitudes that I see, it's deplorable. Those of you, I'm aiming this at you. I know you aren't going to change, because you just don't care about anyone but yourself. But God can change you, and one way or another, whether here or the afterlife, regardless if you believe it or not, it's going to happen.
