Jewelry: She was wearing a ring on the right hand ring finger, a bracelet on the left wrist and a necklace.

Circumstances of Recovery: Decedent was found by maintenance after the condo owners on the third floor complained of an odor. Maintenance had to use a key to gain access to the unit. Decedent was found decomposed on the bed in the what would be the master bedroom. It appears as if she sat on the bed and then slumped back (legs off the side upper body on the bed). No obvious trauma, nothing suspicious. No evidence of drug or alcohol use.

Per maintenance the unit is vacant as the previous owner passed away a few months ago. The unit is empty except for a bed, filing cabinet, treadmill and some random miscellaneous items. There is no signs of forced entry. PPD spoke to the unit's previous owner's nephew and he stated the unit was cleaned out and locked up ~2 months ago. He doesn't know who would have keys.

Circumstance Notes: The previous owner's nephew stated he was last at the unit on 2/12/2021. He was there to meet the company picking up the furniture for donation. He locked up when he was done.

The condo owners on the third floor noticed the door open recently and when they went to check to see what was going on an elderly woman came walking out of the bedroom. They don't recall the date when this occurred but it was before April because they went on vacation 4/2/2021.

The electric and water are still on in the unit. There was no food or drink present. It appears decedent did use the toilet (filled with faeces) in the master bedroom.

May 25, 2021:

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has announced they’ve uncovered the identity of an unidentified woman found in a low water crossing off Highway MM, near Dixon, Missouri on May 25, 1981.

Known as the Pulaski County Jane Doe, she has been identified as Karen Kay Knippers. The Identification came after the sheriff’s office enlisted the help of the DNA Doe Project. The organization extracted a DNA sample from her remains and uploaded a sequenced DNA file to GEDmatch in November 2019 and to Family Tree DNA in December on that year. After “matches in the second cousin range” were produced, its team of genetic genealogists were “able to identify Karen [Kay] Knippers as a candidate for Pulaski County’s Jane Doe within a matter of hours”.

In January 2020, a man believed to be a possible relative was located by the sheriff’s office. He relayed to detectives that he’d lost contact with his sister in the early 1980s. A definitive match was made after both his and Jane Doe’s DNA were entered into databases in May 2021, proving the deceased was his sister, Karen.

Given the circumstances under which Karen’s body was found, her case is being investigated as a homicide. Those with information regarding her murder are asked to contact the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office at 573-774-6196.

Tattoo: Multi-colored tattoo of an eagle on the lateral aspect of the right upper arm beneath which are some letters and numbers which are not clearly legible
Tattoo: A heart, cross, and some flowers on the posterior surface of the right forearm in multiple colors
Tattoo: A heart with a sword through it with a banner across the heart with "Mom" on it is located on the posterior surface of the left forearm.
Accessories: A key is found attached to the brown belt
Clothing: Long sleeve button front blue and white striped shirt, white undershirt, a green pair of pants with a brown belt, a blue pair of boxer style undershorts
Footwear: Brown pair of socks and one white sneaker
Jewelry: Cloth watch band on the left wrist held together with a safety pin

Accessories: Blue day pack with the name "DIANNE MILL, San Francisco" found inside along with 3 unmarked bottles with Doxepin (SINEQUAN), 50mg and Flurazepam (DALMANE) 30mg/15mg.
Clothing: Men/s corduroy western style tan colored pants. Size 34"wide x 30" length. Man's gray turtle neck ski sweater, "V" insert, multi-color design with the name of "Arnold L. Petersen II" on a name tag attached inside the sweater. Underneath sweater was a homemade multi-color smock w/yellow, blue and green flowers w/2 red patch pockets. Bikini underpants.
Clothing: Wet look Royal Blue mid length double breasted rain jacket w/large White Buttons ,size 12.
Brand name Sears, "Pilgrim sportswear Jacket".
Footwear: NIKE Swoosh Blue suede/white trim jogging shoes size 9 1/2 w/men's socks.

Sunken Eye Lady - Marge Ann Mazari - looks jarringly poigniant now. Before death you see their eyes sink and as it's a loved one, so does your belly and you really know this is the last of it.
