My guess is that they shot him with 00 buckshot while on the ground, thus the oblique angle of the penetration of pellets resulting in elongated entry wounds.

I think 12 gauge 00 buckshot shells have 8 or 9 pellets per shell. I count 8 elongated wounds in his chest.

Also, no blood pouring from the wounds. Must have been shot while already dead. (Nothing wrong with a "security round".)
