Agh! Did he get his jaw smashed in over the bog seat? I saw that in the film "Bound" and on "The Sopranos"

If he had not broke the law he would not have been in there in the first place.

Re: Murdered Inmate

Is he wearing pink shoes?
I think a state prison in the U.S uses pink underwear, shoes and handcuffs to humiliate prisoners.

Re: Murdered Inmate

I read somewhere that pink was used in jails because it's a 'calming color'.

You're right too:

Punishing with Pink
Friday August 24, 2007
Recently a tiny prison in Central Texas has come under scrutiny because of the color pink. At the Mason County Jail the walls are painted pink and the inmates wear pink uniforms and pink shoes. They even sleep on pink sheets. According to the sheriff, since going pink the rate of re-offense has dropped dramatically and there are no more fights between inmates.
Pink + Prison = Punishment?
Pink is a Winner
Colors Men Do and Don't Like
Choosing Colors for Women
It's true that pink, unlike it's sometimes violence-inducing cousin red, has a calming effect. Studies have shown that large amounts of the color pink can create physical weakness in people.
Pink in prison is not a new practice. In some prisons inmates have been forced to wear pink as a form of punishment for unwanted behaviour or as a form of control, including pink underwear and pink handcuffs.

In the US pink is associated with little girls and femininity. It's this cultural association more than anything that causes such an uproar when using pink in predominantly male populations, including locker rooms. Interesting that a color with naturally calming effects can stir up such emotion. I wonder how male inmates and athletes would react to purple or lavender walls and uniforms?

Whether or not you agree with the use of pink as a way to control inmates, it's good to know about the symbolism of the color pink and other color meanings when used in your desktop publishing projects.

Re: Murdered Inmate

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona feeds inmates green colored bologna, makes the men wear pink underwear, and he has moved the jail to an outside "tent city" compound that has no AC.

Here a link about him
