Murder Victim Found Floating 100km from Where He Was Killed. [Mexico]
The body of Tomás Hernandez Palaces was found floating by the entrance to Green Lagoon, Mexico, He was bound to a large anchor with a makeshift duct tape blindfold over his eyes. His body had managed to travel over 100km from where he is believed to have been murdered.
Businessman, Mr Hernandez, was identified by dental records as advanced decomposition had made any other method of identification near impossible. Coroners found evidence that he was tortured then bound to the anchor after being abducted by fake police officers in Papantla several weeks earlier. Cause of death was drowning.
It turns out the anchor Mr Hernandez had been attached to was made of cheap iron which 'lost weight' after constant immersion in salt water.
Adding a further, grisly, twist to this story. The family of Mr Hernandez reported to police that gold teeth were missing from the corpse. Upon investigation they found someone working in forensics who regularly took gold teeth from corpses he examined.
