Mudslide Buries 5 Vehicles on Mexico-Queretaro Highway, 7 Killed (2013)
Following a heavy hailstorm on the evening of Sunday, May 26, 2013, a waterlogged slope gave way at about 7:30 p.m. and covered the Mexico City-bound lanes of the Mexico-Queretaro toll highway with mud and rocks. The collapse occurred at kilometer 70 near Santa Ana Azcapotzaltongo, in Tepeji del Rio, Hidalgo state, Mexico, burying passenger vehicles and killing seven people, including those inside a Mexico City taxi. The storm also caused flooding in nearby communities. Despite the highway's Queretaro name, the site of the burial was in Hidalgo, about 45 miles north of Mexico City. |

Damn. Well that sucks. Maybe if they'd had a cutting torch in the back of that SUV instead of an 80 amp flux wire welder they'd have been able to cut them selves free, rather than the long wait for emergency personnel to arrive. |
