Moose Crashes Through Car On Highway 11 Near South River, Ontario (2004)
In May 2004, a car travelling on Highway 11 near South River, Ontario, hit a bull moose at night. The animal passed through the vehicle and exited through its rear. It was killed and the car was wrecked, while the driver, a woman from the North Bay area, suffered a broken hand and minor cuts. She was released from hospital later that day. Reports disagree over whether the moose came in through the windscreen or the roof. Such crashes are especially hazardous because a vehicle hits a moose's legs, causing its body to enter the windscreen at head level instead of being thrown away from the car, as can happen with smaller animals.  ·  ·  ·  · |
