It's not just pot... it's also coke, heroin, etc etc.. the cartels fighting over all the prime drug real estate and trying to take each other out in the process.

Friend of mine from Monterrey was comparing her city to certain events from WW2 era Germany.. she said that no one leaves their homes anymore because they're raping, kidnapping, and killing everyone.. it's gotten to the point, too, where they're hanging people from bridges and buildings daily.. as a warning to people to keep in line and mind their businesses. Men, women, children.. they don't care who they kill. She said there's really no government and that police are in the cartels' pockets. I'm terrified for her to return home.
