What fuckin Hollywood film did you see that gave you that idea. Organized crime is brutal no matter where it is. They hit you were it really hurts and there is no difference in these guys here and the mafia abroad.
While it may not be that way anymore, once upon a time (pre-sixties Mafia in America) did have a hands off policy towards families. They still do to a large extent.
