Some of these I'd seen but many I hadn't. I especially feel for the children in the pictures (the living ones), how bizarre it had to have been for them to pose with their dead relative. But in a lot of cases back then, it was the only photograph a lot of people had of their loved ones.

A trick for finding out who's dead and who's alive: The dead person seems to usually be the clearest in the picture. Probably due to not moving much.
