Schizos don't operate normally, therefore this is no surprise to me. And with megacolon, it is common to go up to 2-3 weeks without a bowel movement.

I'd think the nursing home would had to have known something was up. And don't they normally give them fiber drinks?? (i've had lots of relatives in homes, and it seemed pretty norm. that they gave them fiber drinks) Wouldn't they think it odd for him not to be having a bowel movement? I'd get worried about myself if it was more than a few days! That place should be shut down for negligence. And i will make a note that when I am old and wrinkly, i do NOT want to be sent there.
