Marital Murder-Suicide

43 year old fella beat his wife upside the head with a baseball bat and then used the same bat to choke her to death once she was down. The argument apparently ensued after she'd told him a divorce was in order.

Overcome with remorse almost immediately after, the husband hung himself near her body. Neither survived the encounter.

According to friends and relatives, the case was a real tragedy. The guy was allegedly a really good fellow up until about 18 months ago when he was the victim of a mugging and robbery. When he resisted the assailants, he was shot twice in the head and rushed to the emergency room in critical condition. He eventually recovered, after many surgeries and much treatment, but witnesses reported that his behavior was markedly altered after the brain injury. He often screamed at the air for no reason and flew into uncontrollable rages, whereas he'd previously been a good friend and loving husband. It is strongly suspected that the traumatic brain damage contributed to the killing here. No winners in this case, really.

Re: Marital Murder-Suicide

Have read a lot of stuff regarding brain injuries causing changes in behaviour, especially aggression. I remember one guy who had a stroke and then took out his whole family. Feel sorry for the pair of them.

Re: Marital Murder-Suicide

Yeh that's terrible. Brain injuries can cause huge personality changes and make it hard to control impulses and anger. Sad :(

Re: Marital Murder-Suicide

Too bad he survived the robbery, is the first thing that comes to my mind.

Maybe she saw it coming and it was the reason for the divorce, sadly it was too late.

Indeed, no winners here.

Re: Marital Murder-Suicide

That shows that deep inside us is still a part where we have basic instincts and some people (brain damaged or not) can't control it. quite scary actually. all around a sad story this is.
