Maria de Lourdes Farias de Melo, a 27-year-old housewife, was taken from her home in Conjunto Carminha, in the Benedito Bentes neighborhood of Maceió, Alagoas, at about 2 a.m. on July 24, 2011. A group described as drug traffickers dragged her from her bed while her husband and three children were inside the house.

She was taken into the street and shot in the head, then decapitated. One of her arms was also severed. The killers used the arm to write "CABUETA," local slang for a snitch or informer, in her blood on the wall of a nearby house. The inscription represented the killers' accusation against Melo; it did not establish that she had informed on anyone.

Brazil. It seems that she was killed and quartered because she reported the traffickers to the police.
The primary suspect is the head of drug trafficking in the region, who wanted to "send a message" to the other residents: very brutal murder.

Looks like the head was whacked off first then the arm. Notice how the skin is pulled in around the neck and the shoulder cut is wide open.
