Re: María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar, Former Mayor, Found Dead
I wonder why the good people of Mexico took her protection away from her ?? She seemed like a decent and honest person trying to do the right thing and make a difference (for the good) ..also in addition to being really pretty she was also a doctor and the former mayor ! Her 1st husband was killed (assassinated) . This was a sad case of evil triumphing over good. |

Re: María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar, Former Mayor, Found Dead
VulpesInculta here and chickenmochizuki here posted some very interesting updates; (Thank you, btw She saved her daughter's life, which makes the story even more sad for the gravity of the loss, but at least the daughter survived. But the article by El Universal is shocking: January 2008, January 2009, October 2009, January 2010, November 2012 (fatal). FIVE murder attempts. What surprised me is not this, though: The secretary of the interior, stated that "there are no grounds to suppose that this happened because of her political activity, present and past" What else then? Did she tried to fight the cartels as a private citizen? And even so, what did she did to deserve to be killed not after one but FIVE attempts? Obviously someone really hated her, and the words from the secretary of the interior are really confusing, at least for me. WTF, in Mexico cartels are used to leave messages, usually at the end you know who has been killed by who, when, where, how and why. The more i read the less i know about this story. |

Re: María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar, Former Mayor, Found Dead
I can believe this, I just read an article about her a few weeks ago and thought, man, people like this is exactly what that country needs right now. This is a women who had far more balls and conviction to do what was right than all the male mayors in that nation combined. The people who did this deserve nothing less than the worst punishment I can think of, The Iron Bull. May she rest in eternal peace and the legacy of María Santos Gorrostieta never be forgotten. |

Mafia/Cartels will get you ALLWAYS... she was a gonne after the 1st attempt. The question is why hasn't she split the country much earlier. |

Re: María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar, Former Mayor, Found Dead
a Hero indeed ! w/a capital H "I have had to bear losses that I would not wish on anyone, and have had to accept them with resignation and with the knowledge that it is our Lord's will, and have gone on, even with a wounded soul," "Despite that, and despite my own safety and that of my family, what occupies my mind is my responsibility towards my people: the children, the women, the elderly and the men who break their souls every day without rest to find a piece of bread for their children," she continued. "I will get up however many times God allows me to, to keep on searching, scratching, negotiating plans, projects and actions for the benefit of all of society, but in particular, for the vulnerable ones. This is who I am." María Santos Gorrostieta Salazar (1976-2012) |
