Man and Woman Shot Dead in Ambush on Broadway Avenue, Quezon City, June 2021

On the evening of June 9, 2021, motorcycle-riding gunmen attacked a man and a woman in a car at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and 6th Street in Barangay Mariana, New Manila, Quezon City. The man was killed by gunfire inside the vehicle. The woman was dragged from the car and shot in the street. Witnesses said she remained alive and pleaded for assistance after the gunmen escaped, but died before she could be brought to a hospital.

Quezon City police said the assailants had followed the pair for days and were probably motivated by a personal grudge. Contemporaneous reporting gave conflicting identities for the victims, as IDs recovered at the scene carried different names, and no arrests were reported. Barangay officials accused police who responded of stopping bystanders from assisting the injured woman.

TWO people died when riding-in-tandem criminals were shot in Barangay Mariana, Quezon City, Wednesday night.
According to Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra, the potential couple victims are still unknown.
According to the report, 7:00 pm when the incident happened at Broadway Avenue corner 6th Street, Barangay Mariana.
Victims were riding in a car at the intersection of the culprits estimated to be six people and on a motorcycle, according to police.
According to witnesses of the incident, the culprits even let the woman out of the car, while inside the car the man who was serving as a driver was shot.
The woman who could ask for help did it before her life took her.
According to the report, assault rifle vases were found at the crime scene, and goods from the appliance store were found inside the victim s' vehicle.
Yarra said their investigators are currently taking two more addresses of victims in Caloocan and Malabon.
The names and addresses on the IDs of victims found by the authorities are different.
The photos of the victims will be released to the public to speed up their identification.
So far, they have no solid evidence to pinpoint a possible motive in the crime.
′′ But when we reviewed the CCTV, we can see that they were followed coming from their last destination they went to. This is an appliance store, we won't let it out now where it is and we are also investigating here in this area to know if they have met something or just bought something and on their way back to their destination they got lost," The General said.
The plate of the vehicle used by the victims is also beniberipika in the Land Transportation Office.
