That's terrible. It's amazing to me how many psycho criminals in the world are so willing to kill somebody hard just to get a few trinkets. I know in some countries they just shot you while you're getting in the car, then throw your body down & rob it :(

It's called Castle Law. Your home is your castle, and you have the right to protect it and its contents with any force necessary, including lethal (edit: only in some states, including mine). It doesn't matter what room I'm in if someone enters my home without my consent. I'll have one in a pocket and another, larger one within 5 seconds of where I am.
