Man Stabs His Cousin to Death
At around 5.30am on 9th December 2012, the body of 23 year old Elias Costa Nobre was found. He had been stabbed in his chest at the back of a house at around 10.30pm the night before. He managed to run off, with the knife still in his chest, before falling to the ground dead. The murderer, 36 year old Valmilton de Jesus Araujo, was arrested. The two men were estranged cousins. Valmilton stated the he killed Elias as he had threatened his father (Elias' uncle). On 24th June 2012, Valmilton's father, 63 year old Adonias Teixeira de Araújo, had witnessed the murder of 28 year old Jurandir de Souza Lino by his nephew 24 year old José Alberto Araújo Carvalho (Elias' cousin). Adonias had helped police with the crime, telling them how José had strangled Jurandir. Because of this, Elias wanted revenge. The murder of Elias occured at a family party. Valmilton was surprised to see Elias in attendance + this made him think that he was there for his revenge.
