An unidentified man was found floating in the Paraná River in western Paraná state, Brazil, on the morning of August 31, 2013. A fisherman spotted the decomposing body at about 7 a.m. The Military Police attended, and firefighters recovered the body from the water before a state forensic expert examined it on the riverbank.

The man had at least 15 gunshot wounds and a knife injury. His abdomen had been cut open, his viscera displaced and stones placed inside the abdominal cavity. He carried no identification, and no later identification was established. The case was referred to the Homicide Division, but no arrest, charge or resolution was recorded.
