Man Kills His Boss + Family Over Money
In Matagalpa on 28th December 2017, a man, a woman + 2 children were killed. Their bodies were found the next morning by the man's father. The victims were 48 year old Juan Valerio Escoto Obando, his wife 45 year old Adela López Guzmán, their daughter 9 year old Iris Lindsay Escoto López + Juan's niece 10 year old Geylin Judith Escoto Castillo. Inside the house, was the couple's 2 year old son, Lester Antonio Escoto López, unharmed. The murderer was Freddy Cruz García , who had been working for Juan for the last 7 weeks. Apparently, when Freddy had started work there, he took with him a 15 year old girl who he introduced as his wife. Freddy had come to Juan to get his wage, but he was only to get part of it as it was not payday. This angered Freddy + he clubbed Juan to death. Adela screamed when she saw what had happened + ran to the aide of her husband. Adela suffered the same death as Juan. The 2 little girls were next on the scene, they tried to run away but Freddy clubbed one of them to death + strangled the other. Freddy than stole Juan's wallet + fled. The wallet contained the money Juan had received from the sale of his cocoa harvest. Freddy was arrested that afternoon + he confessed. He was brought before a judge on 3rd January 2018.        |

i read that he went to his boss's home to ask for a loan of 1,000 cordobas which is $32. When his boss said no he went apeshit on everyone as he was half drugged, but according to the boss's father his son sold coffee just prior to the slaying worth $1,280 and the killer knew that so it was actually not a slaying done about the denied loan but more a robbery killing to get that 1,280 dollar. After the slaying he took 830 córdobas ( 25 bucks or so) and the cell phone of his boss. Allthough some articles later on after he was sentenced mention 12,000 cordobas he stole. He committed "for the ambition of money." "You know, it's the ambition ... the money was going to be used to travel," Cruz García told reporters when he was before a judge. The deputy of the Single Court of Criminal District of Hearings in Matagalpa, César Jerónimo Vargas, imposed sentences of 30 years in prison for each of the victims of aggravated murder and another seven years in prison for aggravated robbery . Although the sentences amount to 127 years in prison, Vargas clarified in the sentence that, by constitutional provision, Cruz must serve only 30 years in the Waswalí Regional Penitentiary System in Matagalpa "or in the establishment that the prison authorities intend." Don't know why he killed the girls too but guess he didn't want to leave witnesses. Hope he gets killed inside prison. |
