Man Killed by Wife; Dismembered Remains in Suitcase in Bangkok, 2012
A 47-year-old man was killed and dismembered by his 36-year-old wife at Thiti Wong Apartment in Bangkok's Bangkok Noi district. His remains were discovered on October 7, 2012, after the wife asked a security guard to remove luggage she was discarding. The guard opened a large wheeled suitcase on a second-floor landing near the lift and found the man's torso and limbs inside. The head, both wrists and right ankle had been severed. Police divers searched the Bang Khun Non canal behind the apartment block and recovered the head about an hour later. It was inside a zip-lock bag wrapped in a towel. The wife appeared disoriented during questioning, tested positive on a drug screen and spoke incoherently. Authorities ordered a psychiatric evaluation and initially charged her with premeditated murder and concealing a body. She was later found to have a psychiatric illness and received a sentence of about three years. |
