Article says, "shot in the chest, possibly with a revolver". That is either a very large caliber revolver, 50 caliber maybe?, or a semi close frontal shotgun blast-(slug).

Might be  The article stated that the police assumed it to be a handgun causing the chest wound, they don't know it themselves either What they'll find inside him during the autopsy should uncover the truth  |

Might have been a large caliber handgun. I would guess a 12 gauge slug made a somewhat neat hole right through the sternum post-mortem. |
