Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Anaconda Snake
I'm way late, but cobras and anacondas are 2 different types of snakes. Anything that 'squeezes' prey like this (anaconda, python, boa) is a nonvenomous snake; they tend to hold the body tight and rarely break bones. Cobras are venomous and don't look anything like this. They attack prey by biting (hence how they're venomous) or by spraying into the eyes of a victim (not deadly but a darn good way to tell someone or something to back off). Once the neurotoxin sets in, it's not good for whatever they've come across. Just my input.....this is not a cobra. Cobras do not act in this way. And it looks like the blood may be from the snake, as again, reticulators don't have a reason to bite--they squeeze. Sorry for the guy though. |

That used to be what was thought, but it's been disproved. I think it was found prey victims suffer heart attacks or internal trauma before they suffocate.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Anaconda Snake
King cobras can grow to close to nineteen feet in length, and they do sometimes wrap around their prey to hold onto them (but not to kill them through suffocation). But they're not as thick in the middles as that snake, and they have a different coloration and markings. That is an anaconda.
