Sorry, there is a LOT more they have to do other than killing people. They have to shine their shoes, and check tickets. Also, they look out the window a lot.
And they yell at the engineer "HEY, YOU'RE GONNA KILL SOMEONE! LOOK OUT! OOOOPS! TOO LATE!!
In addition, I think there are many other duties of various types, of one thing or another, in a wide assortment, that they probably have to do sometime during each day, if they feel like it.
Plus, when they DO kill someone, there is a LOT of paperwork they have to do. They have to say what day it was, where it happened, did the guy fall under or not?, was he squished?, any last words?, did he use any profanity?, was there money in his pockets?, how much? did you take it and buy a donut with it? and many other questions of a technical nature that I cannot think of right now, but I am sure they probably exist.
It should also be remembered that if you have to wear a hat all day, your head gets heavy, so consider THAT as well.
Mr May, your posts always crack me up.
