Gosh I hope she wasn't put in there alive. However I would think she would be in a different position and maybe some nail marks.

I read that she was choked out to unconsciousness and then placed in there alive. If she ever did recover, being frozen to death would have been less traumatic than the enclosure itself. It is said that when your body temperature reaches below a certain point, you go into a "death sleep".
