Man Attacks His Wife a Machete During Argument

In Tampico, on 7th June 2016, 46 year old Andrés Pérez Maldonado murdered his 36 year old wife Marisela Rojas Santiago with a machete.

Andrés + Marisela had separated the previous month + had been arguing about custody of their 2 youngest children. Andrés attacked Marisela with a machete, striking her at least 20 times. When he stopped, he called his daughter, Ariadna Jazmín Pérez Rojas + told her what he had done.

Adriadna made her way to her parents house. At about 1am, neighbours saw Ariadna screaming desperately + asking for help. The front door was locked + neighbours helped her break one of the windows. Marisela had blunt force trauma to her head, excessive bleeding + several fingers had been chopped off. An ambulance was called + she was rushed to hospital, but it was too late.

According to neighbours, Ariadna is in contact with her father, who has changed his appearance, cut his hair + wears dark glasses to avoid being recognised. They have seen him on buses + he works as a plumber. The neighbours are baffled as to why he has not been arrested.
