Are you just being nice, or do you actually believe that? You need some metaphysical basis for that claim. An atheist materialist can't legitimately make it since nonexistence is not any sort of being, at peace or otherwise. A theist who believes in an afterlife could make it, of course, but knowing nothing about this particular individual the theist has no basis for classifying him as "at peace" vs. "burning in Hell" (unless he believes that suicides automatically go the the latter destination). |
