Looks like the exit would have been just around the right eye. So... if this guy's not a southpaw- it could be a homicide. Also, the gun was not pressed up tight against the skin like most suicides... I hope this PD did a good investigation.
If you are thinking of offing yourself, the temple is a poor spot.. 1/2 inch forward he may have survived. In the mouth is best.
