The Lincoln Grizzly: 830-Pound Bear Killed by a Pickup on Highway 200, 2007
Before dawn in October 2007, a pickup truck hit and killed an 830-pound, 12 year old male grizzly on U.S. Highway 200 approximately five miles west of Lincoln, Montana. Standing about eight feet tall, it was among the largest grizzlies recorded locally. The collision broke the bear's skull, killing it instantly. The driver was uninjured, while the truck sustained about 7,500 dollars in damage. The bear had previously survived a vehicle strike in 1996. Its carcass was taxidermied, and the animal, known as the Lincoln Grizzly, is now on display at the Forest Service ranger station in Lincoln. · · · · · · · · · · |

Bet he wished he "paws-ed" at the side of the road to check that it was safe to cross.
