The Lincoln Grizzly: 830-Pound Bear Killed by a Pickup on Highway 200, 2007
This grizzly bear was struck and killed by a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 200 about five miles west of Lincoln, Montana, before dawn in October 2007. The 12 year old male weighed 830 pounds and stood roughly eight feet tall, one of the largest grizzlies recorded in the area; the impact fractured its skull and killed it instantly. The driver was not hurt, though the truck took about 7,500 dollars in damage. The same bear had survived being hit by a vehicle in 1996. The carcass was taxidermied, and the animal, known as the Lincoln Grizzly, is now displayed at the Forest Service ranger station in Lincoln.  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |

Bet he wished he "paws-ed" at the side of the road to check that it was safe to cross.
