The implication in the original story is that she was gay, which got her involved in some questionable social circles. No further details were given on that score, so I don't know if she wound up with some sort of hardcore **** biker gang or what...but it eventually led to her getting deep into drugs. The killing itself was presumed to be drug-related rather than having anything to do directly with her sexuality.
