Kyle Pearson Falls Eight Storeys From a San Diego Parking Structure, 2011
Kyle Pearson, 42, fell eight storeys from the top floor of the San Diego Concourse parking structure at Civic Center Plaza in downtown San Diego, California, at about 3.15pm on Monday, October 10, 2011. He struck the walkway by the fountain outside Golden Hall and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was released publicly two days later. San Diego police preliminarily determined that the death was a suicide. The county medical examiner's office first reported that Pearson lost his balance while hanging fliers on an exterior wall of the structure, but later retracted that account and said the cause of death remained under investigation. Fliers bearing a message to intelligent earthlings from their creator were near his body, while political pamphlets were found in his pockets. Witnesses could not confirm whether the fliers on the ground belonged to him. An Occupy San Diego rally was underway in the plaza below when Pearson fell. Police said Pearson was not part of the protest, while organisers said he might have joined the encampment. Pearson was awaiting trial in connection with a June 2011 collision in El Centro that killed a Caltrans worker. He was scheduled to appear in court that afternoon to set a trial date. · · · |
