Re: Kindergarten Teacher and Her Boyfriend Executed
Yeah, I found that especially strange. You can see that they zip-tied her with the purse strap still around her arm. I half wonder if she might have thought she'd make it out alive, since they let her keep her purse and everything. Who knows. In any case, I do not believe I have ever seen someone zip-tied/cuffed with the purse still on their forearm before. Can't really tell if she was killed sitting there and the stuff spilled out onto the ground as she struggled or if she was killed in a truck or van (as the cops suspect) and it all spilled out when they dumped her by the side of the road. |

Re: Kindergarten Teacher and Her Boyfriend Executed
They let her keep everything but her life though. The report said that someone hear gunshots from the wooded area and both police and reporters headed there. Judging from their body position, maybe they were executed on the spot, inside a truck/van then dumped in the bush. Also, that's not a comfortable spot to strangle someone |

Re: Kindergarten Teacher and Her Boyfriend Executed
I was just in Honduras and this is a everyday thing and yes they did never use to censor the news now they do because they are trying to portray a image that Honduras isn't as lethal as before but let me tell yes it is anything and everything goes down

Re: Kindergarten Teacher and Her Boyfriend Executed
Nothing big to add, but I wound up speaking this week to a reporter in Yoro who worked on this case when it happened and was a friend of the young woman's family. The double murder is still unsolved and the ex-husband had a pretty decent alibi, but the journalist is continuing to explore a peculiar angle of inquiry that he feels has merit. Unfortunately, due to the nature of it, he didn't give me a ton of details. Apparently, however, there were several waves of teacher-initiated protests happening in Honduras at the time and more than a handful of school teachers vanished or turned up dead in the wake of the unrest. I'm not entirely sure what they were protesting. I believe it was something about governmental misappropriation of school funds, but the reporter I spoke with as well as several others believe now and have always believed that these murders and disappearances were carried out by covert state operatives as retaliation/intimidation tactics for the protests. It feels a bit far-fetched to me and I know that a lot of these Central American countries are always eager to blame government corruption for civilian death, but he was working hard enough on the angle and I found it interesting enough to mention in the thread here. I'll stay in touch with him to see if he turns anything up, but it is unlikely in any event. My money's still on the boyfriend's criminal contacts coming back on both of them. |
