Someone please tell me that the bruising that he's got going on does NOT mean he lived for a period of time damaged like this. I think I remember reading that the body bruises and swells as the first stage of healing until it regrettably shuts down these vital processes due to being mortally injured and multiple organ failure...will someone please comfort me by telling me I am dead wrong?

The body will still bruise and swell for a couple of minutes after a person has died. Cells still live for about 3 minutes after death and blood that is no longer circulating will still drain and migrate toward the outer layers of the body. It's quite possible this guy was alive for a short time after impact, though I doubt very much that he was aware of his situation. I'd say he was either killed on impact, or died while unconscious or in a coma. |
