Residents found the body of Juliet "Shane" Bajar Hesim, 22, inside the garage of a private house in Barangay A. Tabora, Baguio City, at about 6:40 a.m. on August 30, 2022. Her twin sister identified her from a feather tattoo and the name "Shane Hesim" on her shoulder. Her hands and mouth had been bound, and a belt was tied around her neck. An autopsy determined that she died from asphyxia caused by ligature strangulation. Police believed she was killed on August 29 and her body was dumped in the garage.

Reneval Ponce, 31, surrendered to police in Manila on September 7 and was transferred to Baguio City. Ponce admitted binding Hesim's hands and taping her mouth but claimed that a companion known only as "Eminem" killed her. On September 9, police filed murder and drug charges against Ponce and the unidentified second man. The second man remained at large in the latest reporting located, and the case had not reached trial.
