In Santa Rita, on 1st January 2015, 31 year old Edvan Teixeira dos Santos stabbed his brother Edvaldo Teixeira dos Santos. Edvaldo was injured but survived. Edvan had been jealous of his wife with his own brother (not sure if they'd actually had an affair or not).

When she saw what her husband did, 20 year old Antônia Maria de Araújo, ran to a friend's house in an attempt to escape her husband's fury. Antonia was pursued by Edvan + when he caught her, he struck her in the head + back with an axe. Antonia died on the spot.

Edvan fled + hid in a nearby forest. He was found + arrested the next day.

At the police station, officers also found that Edvan had also killed a young man in São Luís. The axe used in the crime was located + seized. The father of Edvan had recently purchased the axe to use
for work.
