In the early hours of June 5, 2017, Jainy Michely Santos da Silva, 25, who was four months pregnant, was found naked and decapitated beside the AM-010 highway in Rio Preto da Eva, roughly 50 kilometres from Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. Her body had perforated and burned areas. Her 23-year-old brother, Isac Santos, known as Trem Bala, was also found decapitated and naked. He had been among 15 suspects in the killing of a military police soldier one week earlier.

Police linked the deaths to a nine-day period in which 46 homicides occurred, attributing the violence to a change of leadership within a criminal faction and saying the killings showed signs of organized crime. No arrest was ever reported.
