Re: An Irregular Way to Hang Oneself.....
Can anyone provide any more info on how this may have panned out for the victim? Mechanism of injury and death? Would this be a potential Hangman's Fracture case? Is death slower in such a case? How, why, etc? I'm guessing a range of possible neck injuries? Would this be a less effective way versus noose at the back of the neck? Really would appreciate picking the brains of the educated around here. This stuff fascinates me. |

Re: An Irregular Way to Hang Oneself.....
Though the break is a possibility, it is more likely due to the blockage of blood flow in the neck arteries that leads to the brain hypoxia and death just in a few minutes. Those two arteries are located at the two sides of the neck, and a pressure as light as about 10 Kg would be more than sufficient for a complete blockage.
