Iraq - Young Lady + Her Parents Stabbed to Death in Their Home
On the evening of 15th September 2020 in Baghdad (Iraq), 3 members of a Kurdish family were murdered in their home. D.R. + his wife, A.R., were stabbed to death in their bathroom. Their daughter, S.D.R. was beaten + killed in her bedroom. Their home was also robbed. 'S' had participated in the anti-government protests in Tahrir Square. Several others who had protested there had been killed by death squads, leading police to believe that this was the case with the family's deaths. 'S', who worked as a pharmacist, + her parents, both retired doctors, were buried in Sulaimani on the 17th. 36 year old 'N' was arrested + confessed to the murders. He stated: After killing the family, he went in search for money + found "around $10,000". Taking the money, the family's mobile phones + the murder weapon, he fled the scene via taxi. A neighbour said of the family "'D' was a very peaceful man." Another stated "they were the best people, very honorable and had no issues. We are shocked. This incident will never be easy to forget."

More likely an extortion attempt than a request for a loan.
