Re: Iran/Iraq Chemical Warfare.

Probably old USSR stuff.
The chemical weapons Iraq used were from Germany, France, US and UK (Chlorine Gas, Mustard Gas, Nerve Agents, Sarin, Cyanide, and some other irritants/deadly toxic substances).

The tanks/guns/missiles were from Russia (T-Series, Russian mobile missile launchers, Katyusha, Russian SAM-AntiAircraft systems, BMP, AK-47 variants, RPG, RPK/RPD, Makarov pistols, Russian made grenades, SCUD missiles, assortment of Russian made S2S missiles, Russian helmets), China (Chinese variants of the above), Eastern Bloc Countries (ditto) and France (some Renault stuff, armored cars, some small arms).

The airplanes were French (Dassault Mirage, Super Etandard) and Russian (Mig-21, MiG-23 Fishbed, Frogger, MiG-24, some Sukhoi planes, Russian bombers, Mil-Mi 88 Hind helicopters, Russian assault gunships).

The money was Saudi, Kuwaiti, and American.

The tanks/guns Iran used were UK (Chieftan Tank, BRNO LMG), US (Patton Tank, APC, Bazooka, M60 Machine Gun, and Jeeps), German (Heckler & Koch G-3, MG42, MG3, etc., German-made US helmets), Chinese/NK (AK-47 & RPG North Korean used by Baseej and Revolutionary Guards, various Chinese-made Russian LMG's and rifles), Libyan small arms, Israeli (Uzi, some US Parts).

The airplanes Iran used were largely US (F-14 Tomcat, F-4 Phantom, F-5 Tiger, Bell Huey Helicopter, Chinook, Cobra Helicopter, Sea King, various gunships and recon planes, supposedly, Iran had a couple F-16's too from a deal the Shah made), British (Recon planes), Russian (MiG-21's captured in Iraq, MiG-23's captured in Iraq, a few Russian helicopter gunships).

The missiles Iran used were leftover US and Chinese (Silkworm), Russian (Katyusha, SCUD) and a few from North Korea.

There was very little money/loans given to Iran, though the Russians helped a facilitate deals a bit and so did some Western countries *(though nowhere near in comparison to how much they helped Iraq). This drained Iran from obtaining necessary Western parts for their equipment or even from manufacturing their own.

* Keep in mind that after 1979 the only countries doing business with Iran were Syria, Libya, North Korea, and to an extent China. Israel helped Iran with small deals and facilitating the Reagan Iran-Contra scandal where the US delivered some spare F-14 and other airplane & vehicle parts in exchange for hostages. Everyone else had participated in sanctions so Iran's military hardware was dilapidated and needing repair. Iraq on the other hand had very large quantities of weapons and hardware, especially from France and Russia, though their intel came from the US and Russia.
